Tint Basics
Window tinting is usually made up of polyester composite with an adhesive layer that laminates to the glass. It is cut out to the shape of the glass to be tinted, the inside of the glass is thoroughly cleaned, and the film is
applied wet and water is squeezed out using tools of the trade. Depending on the type of film, it usually takes several days to dry, and will dry more rapidly under steady sunlight. Commercial and residential films usually take much longer to completely dry due to their composition. This applies particularly to window films that have a metal composition. Window film that is of high quality and made by a major manufacturer, will come with a scratch resistant coating that will resist normal wear and tear. It is not scratch proof however, and if the film is impacted hard enough with a sharp object, it can scratch or possible tear. Over all, window tint can take a fairly good beating and come out of it ok in most cases. Auto tint is not a “one way” film. Please don’t roll up to an officer of the law and make faces at him thinking that he can’t see you. A lot of them don’t appreciate this form of humor.
FAQ
How long will it take to tint the windows on my auto?
For most passenger cars, the install usually can be completed in 2 hours or less. This of course depends on
the complexity of the car or truck and how many windows there are to be tinted. Some vans or SUVS that have pop out windows can take longer, depending on how the windows are constructed. Older cars take longer to clean and require more labor to do a proper install. Please don’t expect miracles on a 74 Nova that has been in a barn for 20 years. It’s not going to happen. Give me a 2009 Mustang though, and look out…..
How does window film compare to factory tint?
Aftermarket window tint is a completely different installation process from what you see from the factory. Factory tinted glass is actually dyed glass that has minimal protection properties. It is also made under extreme clean conditions. Car manufacturers are also very proud of their “tinted glass”, and this is reflected in the price you pay for the vehicle. Window film is a fraction of the cost. Buy your new car or truck with out factory tinted
glass and use the difference to put a child through college. Well, maybe you wont save that much, but you get the picture. The skill of the technician that applies the window film is your greatest asset in assuring a good, clean install. Do expect some minor imperfections however; it is nearly impossible to do this type of work with zero defects. Here at Glass Tiger Tinting, we have over 30,000 completed installs to date, and no other company installs window film better. I’m not bragging, I’m just real familiar with my competition. I have trained a lot of them. Yeah I know, my mistake.
I have checked pricing on window tint for my car, and you charge more than the other guys. Why the difference?
Automobile window tinting is an art form that requires skill and precision. Realistically, there are only 10 tint shops that I would even consider taking a car to that do a quality install in the Atlanta metro area. There is a
huge difference in the quality of the tint work performed by the “pros” and all the other guys. Glass Tiger is one of the Atlanta originals, and has been here year after year, providing the very best service. I am sure you have heard the old expression; “You get what you pay for”. A poor window film install makes your whole car look bad. It gets noticed. Your friends may make fun of you. (who needs that) The difference that you get for the price that we charge is what sets us apart from all the hackers that have popped up in this business. Believe me, there are tons of them. Even if you don’t select our company to do your install, don’t go with the lowest price that you can find. Experienced technicians make all the difference, and it shows in the finished product. After all, you only have to pay for this work one time, make sure that you have a true professional do the work. Don’t let a hacker touch your car. He may just take your money and run to Jamaica with it.

Can you come to my home or office to tint my car?
Yes we can. We do offer mobile glass tinting service depending on the environment that we have to work in. As
long as you have a garaged area that will break the wind, have sufficient lighting, is relatively clean, we can come on site to tint your windows. We also need access to electricity. Please don’t put us in a parking deck, or in the blazing sun. My staff is sensitive about this and I don’t want to hear them gripe. Also, please don’t feed them when they are on site, it slows them down and we have a lot of work to get done. You are welcome to give them water if you would like. They also seem to like tips. Use your own judgment on this.
Do you give free residential and commercial estimates?
Absolutely. We will be more than happy to come to your home or office, measure all the glass to be tinted and
make a recommendation that will suit your needs and provide a solution to a problem that you may be experiencing. Please don’t let any of your pets bite or eat one of our employees while they are there. I’m just trying to make sure the experience is a good one for everyone involved. There is nothing worse than hearing a story of how one of our guys was being chased down the street by a Doberman. We hate bad press.
What is the warranty on my window film installation?
All our automotive window films come with a standard lifetime warranty that covers excessive color change, peeling, cracking or bubbling. Residential films are available with a limited lifetime warranty available with the same coverage. Commercial applications have a standard 10 year warranty.
